Step 1: Gathering Reference Materials
The clearest commissions begin with good reference imagery. You do not need professional 3D CAD files or formal turnarounds to start. When submitting an inquiry, collectors typically provide:
- Character Concept: Front, side, and back views (or multiple in-game screenshots showing clothing layers and facial features).
- Desired Pose: Action stances, iconic battle poses, weapon draws, or relaxed museum plinth poses.
- Specific Scale: Deciding between 1/8, 1/7, 1/6, or 1/4 scale (see our Figure Scale Guide for exact height comparisons).
- Existing 3D Files (Optional): If you already purchased an STL/OBJ file from an artist on Patreon or ArtStation, share the link so we can skip the digital sculpting phase and proceed directly to print prep.
Step 2: Digital Sculpting & Engineering
If your project requires full custom modeling, our digital sculptors construct the character in ZBrush. We sculpt anatomically correct proportions, hair strands, fabric drapery, and mechanical details.

We print exclusively with industrial-grade photopolymer resins on 8K monochrome SLA printers operating at 25-micron layer heights. Unlike filament (FDM) 3D printers that leave visible horizontal stepping lines, 8K resin yields glassy, microporous surfaces capable of holding micro-textures like skin pores, leather grain, and blade edges.
After printing, parts undergo a dual-bath isopropanol ultrasonic wash, followed by controlled multi-wavelength UV post-curing to eliminate brittleness and guarantee structural stability.
Step 4: Surface Prep & Master Hand-Painting
Paintwork is where the sculpture transforms into a living collectible:
- Micro-Sanding & Seaming: Support marks are micro-sanded down through 1000-grit to 3000-grit wet abrasives.
- Lacquer Etch Primer: A specialized high-adhesion grey or black lacquer primer is airbrushed across all parts to establish an unbreakable mechanical bond.
- Base Coats & Volumetric Shading: We use Iwata fine-nozzle airbrushes to apply graduated highlights and shadow valleys across muscle groups and clothing folds.
- Signature Style Application:
- Cel-Shaded Anime: High-contrast shadow planes and razor-sharp black ink panel lines (as seen on our Dracule Mihawk).
